Escape the everyday this summer with Brigit's Bakery

With restrictions finally starting to ease and the weather (hopefully) getting the memo that summer is just around the corner, it's only natural we all want to spend more time outdoors, catching up with friends and family, and doing all the things we've missed out on over the last year or so. So if you want to escape the everyday this summer, here are a few quirky and fun suggestions for things to do with Brigit's Bakery.

But first thing first, what is 'Escape the everyday?" In autumn 2020, Visit Britain launched a domestic marketing campaign to encourage people to support local and book short breaks throughout the UK to discover hidden gems. It's how the campaign Escape the Everyday was born. And it's all about escaping the everyday responsibly by having fun while we continue to follow government guidance.

So here's what you can do this summer with Brigit's Bakery to escape the everyday and tap into your desire for change and freedom after months of lockdown.

1. Jump on an Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

After months of inactivity, we were finally able to get our buses running again! We opened the doors to our Afternoon Tea Bus Tours on the 17th May 2021. And we have a range of exciting and exclusive tours that we'll be running over the summer. So let's take a look at what's happening between June and August this year.

escape the everyday - Peppa Pig Bus Tour

June 2021 Afternoon Tea Bus Tours

In June this month, we have a choice of four different bus tours:

  • The Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour is an extremely popular tour with our littlest customers. Ideal for all ages (2+), the tour departs from Somerset House and is available weekly from Thursdays to Sundays. We offer a super special Peppa Pig afternoon tea menu that will delight both children and grown-ups alike. Plus, each table comes with a special built-in tablet providing guests with a Peppa Pig guided animation of the London tour. And we have sing-a-long songs that the whole family will enjoy! We also offer all children a copy of our Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour Activity Book, full of fun things to colour and do.
  • Running on one day only, on Sunday, 20th June 2021, our Father's Day Afternoon Tea Bus Tour is perfect if you want to escape the everyday and celebrate a special dad in your life. Our buses will be beautifully decorated with fathers in mind, so expect balloons, bow ties, and, of course, cake!
Escape the Everyday - 4th July Bus Tour

July 2021 Afternoon Tea Bus Tours

If you're looking to escape the ordinary in July, in addition to our Classic Afternoon Tea Bus Tour, our Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour, and our Slingsby Gin Afternoon Tea Bus Tour, we also have special themed bus tours to celebrate a few key dates. So write them down in your diary and don't miss out!

  • Are you an American living in London? Or perhaps you want to do something different to escape the everyday and celebrate American Independence Day this year? Then join us onboard the July 4th Celebration London Bus Tour. We offer a limited-edition, all-American-themed menu, including a pastrami burger and a mini pecan tart. Let our stars-and-stripes decorated Routemaster bus give you a unique tour of central London while you celebrate American independence. This bus tour runs on Sunday, 4 July 2021 only.
  • Wimbledon Tennis Afternoon Tea Bus Tour. Running on the 10th and 11th July 2021, this is your chance to celebrate Wimbledon onboard our classic Routemaster buses. You'll get a special tennis-themed afternoon tea with tennis balls, rackets, finger sandwiches, scones with jam, and clotted cream. Just perfect to add some fun and action to your life!
  • And last but not least, join us on Wednesday 14th July 2021 to celebrate Bastille Day. This is a themed tea that comes very easily to us as we already offer a special French-inspired menu with our unique and popular L’Afternoon Tea. Sadly, no frog legs on the menu, but if you're after a unique and quirky experience, you've got it.
Escape the Everyday - Notting Hill Carnival Bus Tour

August 2021 Afternoon Tea Bus Tours

In August, in addition to our regular Afternoon Tea Bus Tours, we also have a couple of other key events we couldn't miss celebrating.

  • Brigit's Bakery loves celebrating Chinese festivals, so after the popularity of our Chinese New Year Bus Tours, we have created a Qixi Festival London Bus Tour. Known as both the Double Seventh Festival and the Seventh Night Festival, Qixi (qī xī jiē) is all about love and romance. This traditional festival recalls the love story and romantic legend of the “Weaver Girl and the Cowherd”, and we will be celebrating in style on Saturday 14th August 2021 with fortune cookies and cute panda macaroons. So come and treat your loved one to a truly unique and romantic experience.
  • Keep your eyes peeled for our Notting Hill Carnival Afternoon Tea Bus Tour, which will run 3 times a day during the August Bank Holiday weekend with dates to be confirmed. So keep an eye out on our website. This year, we will be running a unique collaboration with The Duppy Share Caribbean Rum and hosting the ultimate Caribbean party with complimentary Duppy Rum Cocktails, inflatable palm trees, canaries, and a specially-designed carnival weekend themed menu. The carnival route takes place in the streets around Westbourne Park and Ladbroke Grove. There’s live music, dancing, Caribbean food and drink, and much more. It doesn't get more 'escape the everyday' than this, does it?

2. Afternoon Tea Picnic Lunch

With the ability to meet more friends and family outdoors, then why not take advantage of the good weather and enjoy a picnic in the park? There's no need for you to spend hours shopping, cooking, or chopping fruit and veg though. We can help you escape the everyday by taking care of it all for you. So sit back, relax, and enjoy all your favourite treats alfresco with our Afternoon Tea Picnic Lunch.
